French Conversation Club for Kids - Atelier D'Expression Artistique

Every Saturday in November - 10-11:30 am

A new club for kids between the ages of 6 and 12, who are fluent or have a good command of the French language.

Embroidery Workshop  

Nov 1, 8, & 15 - 10-11 am

Learn how to embroider with our own Librarian, Elizabeth Krebs.
This three-week workshop is for children ages +7 and adults.

 

Innovative Ideas

Join in discovering more about innovator John A. Brashear. Dr. John Alfred Brashear was an American astronomer and instrument builder, born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, 35 miles south of Pittsburgh. He was the most successful producers of telescopes and precision scientific instruments in the world. (b:November 24, 1840 - d:April 8, 1920)

 

League of Women Voters Lunchtime Series

Nov 6 - 12:00-1 pm

Join the League of Women Voters on the first Thursday of the month for a discussion of topical issues. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch.  This month's topic: World Trade and Economics

Italian Conversation Group

Nov 6, 13, 20  - 10-12 am

The Italian Conversation Group has many friends who enjoy this beautiful language. New members are always welcome to join our lively and fun group, every Thursday mornings.
The group meets to read, translate, converse on different subjects related to the Italian culture, history, geography, cuisine and Italy's life today. There are also discussions on authors, composers, and poets as well as a chance to see travel films and Italian movies. This is a lively group with Italy as their motto.

Saving on Home Energy - Practical and Affordable Solutions
Be GREEN: This three part series will be held over a three month period - Sep, Oct, & Nov. Each session is scheduled for three hours, that includes presentations and demonstrations. We will encourage Q&A. Bring your utility bills as reference material for diagnostic methods discussion. 

Each session will repeat a 60 minute introductory overview that will provide the participants with: - Home energy demographic information from the Dept of Energy & EPA. - The EnergyStar initiatives for new and existing homes. - Western Pennsylvania residential energy initiatives (rebates and incentives) - Building Science basics to assist participants in making informed choices to address their home energy issues - Diagnostic methods.

The American Library Association & Hasbro are sponsoring National Gaming Day on November 15th. We at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library will be celebrating Gaming Day on November 14th.
