LIBRARY TIPS:
Specific tips on how to get the most out of your library.
No More DUE DATE Stickers!
Times are tough for everyone these days, and the library is no exception. We have had to make difficult decisions to help reduce our expenses. One decision we made directly impacts our patrons. Items checked out will no longer receive due date stickers. Instead we will print a paper list of the items you checked out with the due dates listed.
For those of you who loved the stickers, please be aware that you are able to check your account online and see everything you have checked out with the due dates. You are also able to renew your item(s) online, if the item doesn’t have a “hold” or is not overdue.
To check your record in My Account you will have to create a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Go to our webpage and click My Account; follow the instructions. The HELP tab at the top of the page is very helpful if you have any questions.

Former Library Director
(Betty Anne Stroup 1970)
Betty Ann Stroup, Mt. Lebanon Library’s director from 1966 to July 1988, passed away on April 15. Betty Anne was an English professor at the Univ. of Pittsburgh before getting her MLS in the early 60's and coming to Mt. Lebanon as a librarian. She was the force behind the library we know today. Our broad deep collection; great reference service; excellent programming; outreach to the community; and strong children's services are her legacy. She believed in and supported them all.
Betty Anne was well respected across the state for her library leadership. She was one of the founders of L.A.S.H. (Library Association of the South Hills) a precursor to ACLA. She loved seeing children come to the library and attended nearly every family storytelling program we offered in the old library. Even the library's portable puppet theater (the one with red fabric walls) was modeled after the theater that Betty Anne and her sister Ruth had in their own house when they were children.
She was an extraordinary person, a gifted librarian, and a generous soul. She and Ruth single-handedly managed the church library at Baldwin Methodist Church, even moving all the books when it was painted many years ago. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Donations can be made to the library in Betty Anne’s memory.
