Specific tips on how to get the most out of your library

Children’s Library Audio Ideas

Did you know…that the children’s library has a knockout collection of audio titles for your family’s listening pleasure? Not only do audiobooks help the miles fly by on a long flight or drive, they can settle even the most boisterous backseat bunch on trips to soccer practice or errands across town. But even if you’re not in the car (or on the go at all), audiobooks are the perfect soundtrack for quiet time at home—bedtime included—and are great for improving children’s vocabulary and listening skills.

For youngest listeners we have shorter stories as well as picture book-and-cassette and picture book-and-CD titles. Older children can choose from numerous titles on CD, cassette and Playaway. A Playaway is a self-playing digital audiobook—about half the size of a deck of cards—for which you supply your own headphones and a AAA battery. Just press "play"; to listen to a great story. If you’d like to see all the Playaway titles that we have in our collection, simply do a keyword search for "playaway"; in our online catalog.

Check out some audio today. And happy listening!
